UNITED WAY CELEBRATES CAMPAIGN ACHEIVEMENT
United Way of the Eastern Panhandle Holds Annual Celebration for Community
MARTINSBURG, WV— United Way of the Eastern Panhandle officially closed the 2016-2017 campaign year with its Annual Celebration, held Wednesday, May 31 at the Holiday Inn Martinsburg. During the breakfast event, supportive businesses and individuals were recognized for their incredible commitment to the United Way.
United Way of the Eastern Panhandle raised $900,000 during its 2016-2017 campaign. Jared Adams, Campaign Chair, announced the total to the more than 75 attendees of the annual campaign celebration.
These funds will be applied to local community programs and initiatives addressing critical needs in the areas of education, financial stability and health.
Several individuals and businesses were recognized for their outstanding service to United Way of the Eastern Panhandle.
Deborah Hammond was honored with the Campaign Volunteer of the Year Award.
Jared Adams was presented with the Marvin J. Yurish Spirit Award for his outstanding work that has made a profound difference in the lives of Eastern Panhandle community members.
Charlotte Norris was presented with the Van Ryzin Award for her outstanding achievement in maintaining and developing the organizational effectiveness and capacity of United Way of the Eastern Panhandle.
The top three employee workplace campaigns were; Gold Award: Macy’s, Inc.; Silver Award: Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races; Bronze Award: Bank of Charles Town.
Procter & Gamble was honored with the Spirit of Giving Award for outstanding workplace campaign achievement.
Rising Star Awards were presented to twenty-one area businesses that achieved a 5% or more increase in campaign contributions.
Seven outgoing Board members were also recognized for their service and commitment to United Way.
United Way of the Eastern Panhandle will wrap up its year by awarding grants to partner agencies through its Community Solutions Fund. The new 2017-2018 Community Campaign will begin with the Annual Day of Caring on September 12, 2017.
