United Way Grants

United Way of the Eastern Panhandle (UWEP) is pleased to announce the opening of the 2023-2024 LIVE UNITED and Community Impact grant applications. Any 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, including schools and government agencies, that serve the West Virginia counties of Morgan, Berkeley and Jefferson are eligible to apply for funding.

Through the Community Solutions Fund, United Way works to strengthen the nonprofit sector by investing in local programs that align with the organization’s four strategic impact areas of education, financial stability, health, and basic needs and demonstrate consistency with the United Way mission, values, priorities, and commitment to addressing identified community needs.

An organization may submit multiple applications for separate programs. However, any funded program may receive only one Community Impact or LIVE UNITED grant per UWEP’s fiscal year which runs from July 1 to June 30. All grant proposals must align with United Way’s impact areas.

The application process is overseen by UWEP’s Board of Directors and its Community Investment Committee. Throughout the review process, reviewers utilize an assessment tool to evaluate applications based on quality, alignment with United Way of the Eastern Panhandle's funding priorities, and ability to demonstrate measurable results. Once the review is complete, the committee makes recommendations to the Board of Directors for new funding allocations for the following fiscal year.

Grant recipients must provide annual outcomes and demonstrate measurable results on indicators that have been identified by United Way’s Community Investment Committee.

Over the past fiscal year, United Way of the Eastern Panhandle has been able to invest in 40 programs at 34 agencies throughout the Eastern Panhandle.

Virtual information meetings will be held on February 1 and February 14 at 1:30 p.m. Applicants may attend either session. Attending the meeting is not required but highly recommended. To join the Zoom meeting, visit uwayep.org/united-way-grants.

The grant application period will run from February 1 through February 28, 2023.
