UNITED WAY CELEBRATES CAMPAIGN ACHIEVEMENT

United Way of the Eastern Panhandle Holds Annual Celebration


MARTINSBURG, WV— United Way of the Eastern Panhandle officially closed the 2023-2024 Campaign Year with its Annual Celebration, held on Tuesday, June 4th, 2024.  The meeting was an opportunity for United Way to celebrate the exceptional accomplishments and invaluable contributions of local businesses, organizations, and individuals during the Community Campaign.

During the event, CEO Penny Porter highlighted the achievements of the Community Campaign and announced a fundraising total of $1,127,779 for the 2023 campaign year. United Way raises funds to invest in local community programs and initiatives addressing critical needs in the areas of education, financial stability, health, and basic needs.

The campaign achievement included results from the 2024 Unity Campaign powered by United Way of the Eastern Panhandle. In its fifth year, the Unity Campaign resulted in a community investment of $467,382. The total Includes $100,000 in matching funds secured by United Way of the Eastern Panhandle and distributed to participating agencies.

The Spirit of Giving Award was presented to CNB Bank in recognition of their various contributions to United Way in the form of sponsorships, workplace campaign fundraising, employee engagement and an overall community spirit of “giving back” throughout the organization.

Outgoing Board Chair Karen Richards of CNB Bank was honored with the Campaign Volunteer of the Year Award in recognition and appreciation of her outstanding service to United Way of the Eastern Panhandle. She will be succeeded by Melissa Knott for the 2024-2025 campaign year.

The top three employee workplace campaigns were Gold Award: Procter & Gamble, Tabler Station; Silver Award: Hollywood Casinos at Charles Town Races; Bronze Award: Potomac Edison/FirstEnergy.

United Way of the Eastern Panhandle also recognized its Top 20 Most Generous Companies during the celebration. The list included workplace campaigns, Unity Campaign support, in-kind gifts, and sponsorships. United Way of the Eastern Panhandle’s Top 20 Most Generous Companies of 2023-2024 were: Procter & Gamble, Tabler Station, United Bank, Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races, Potomac Edison/FirstEnergy, CNB Bank, City National Bank, WVU Medicine, Orgill, Inc., The Journal, Jefferson Security Bank, Bowles Rice, LLP, WVRC Media, Jefferson Medical Center, Farmers & Mechanics Mutual Insurance Co., Weis, GM, Sheetz, Queen Dentistry, Bank of Charles Town and Knauf Insulation.

United Way of the Eastern Panhandle also debuted a video project featuring interviews from current Community Impact grantees of United Way.  The video highlighted the impact of a donor’s dollar on their organization through their partnership with United Way. 

The 2024 Community Campaign will begin with the 30th Annual Day of Caring in September of 2024.
